PERSONAL BACKGROUND
Priscila was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Her parents immigrated to Canada from Chile as children and met in Winnipeg as young adults through the love of soccer. As a result, Priscila also grew up playing soccer, speaking Spanish, and dancing Chilean folkloric dance. Priscila played competitive soccer for almost ten years, which taught her all about commitment, a strong work ethic, and teamwork. Priscila is the first in her family to graduate from university. To help her reach her goal of becoming an attorney, Priscila worked two jobs most of her teen and adult life, including through law school. Priscila worked for L.A. Dance Academy for 12 years as a Supervisor and simultaneously held various other office and retail positions. Not only was she able to reinforce her strong work ethic during that time but she was also able to practice skills such as organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving. For fun, Priscila loves to enjoy the outdoors, go camping, and hang out at the lake with her very large family.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
When Priscila lived in Winnipeg, she volunteered for several years at the Manitoba Chilean Association Cultural Centre Inc. and Folklorama which both strive to promote diversity and multiculturalism in the city. Additionally, Priscila volunteered in the “Princess for a Day” event to support Children’s Charities Manitoba for three years. The event provides children battling life-threatening, chronic, or debilitating illnesses with a day full of the royal treatment.
During law school, Priscila spearheaded a pre-law mentorship program through the Law Women’s Caucus, which paired undergraduate students interested in law school with a law student mentor. In her third year, when Priscila was President of the Law Women’s Caucus, she led the organization in a winter clothing drive for the Northlands Rescue Mission and a Valentine’s Day cosmetic drive for the women at the Community Violence Intervention Center in Grand Forks.
Priscila looks forward to giving back to her new Fargo community. She passionately supports local charitable initiatives in the F-M area, such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Fargo, Fargo Pack for My Starving Children, Gigi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center, New Life Center, and Churches United for the Homeless. Priscila also currently serves as the Vice President for the Cass County Bar Association.
