Mr. Severson was always prompt to answer all of my questions and concerns , and explained things in a way that was easy to understand. Mr. Severson was always willing to listen and seemed to understand my feelings and concerns when we talked.
I would HIGHLY recommend him and his law firm to anybody going through personal injury claims.
Nathan Severson was an AWESOME attorney to have had to represent me in my personal injury claim. He was very friendly and courteous at the same time as professional.

BACKGROUND
Nathan is a trial lawyer who leads SW&L’s Personal Injury department. One of Nathan’s passions in the law is helping people and families who have had their life catastrophically changed due to a semi truck crash.
PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Nathan has been with SW&L since 2013. Prior to that, Nathan worked for a large insurance defense personal injury firm in Las Vegas, Nevada, since 2005. This provided Nathan valuable insight into how insurance companies and the defense operates, and lit the fire in Nathan to fight against the unfairness in personal injury cases almost always caused by the insurance companies involved.
EDUCATION HISTORY
Following high school, Nathan attended NDSU earning a degree in political science, with a minor in business administration. For a year after college, Nathan worked for a company that served North Dakota and Minnesota with house arrest services for individuals accused or convicted of crimes, which gave him insight into the judicial system.
Nathan attended the University of North Dakota School of Law. There, Nathan concentrated on courses and activities related to becoming a trial lawyer. While at UND, Nathan earned an externship placement with Judge Kermit Bye in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, was accepted into the Order of the Coif (awarded to the top 10% of the graduating class), was named to The Order of Barristers (for recognition of advocacy skills), was selected to the UND School of Law Moot Court Association, and graduated with distinction.
PERSONAL BACKGROUND
Nathan was born and raised in Cooperstown, North Dakota, where his family owned the local grocery store until his father passed away in 2003. Nathan met his wife, Carolene, getting married in 2018. Nathan and Carolene have two young kids (a boy and girl), and being a parent is something Nathan loves the most about his life. In his free time, Nathan spends most of his time with his family, reads/listens to trial lawyer related books, listens to legal podcasts, tries to walk daily, and spends time outside with his family as much as possible. One thing Nathan is most passionate about is constantly learning and evolving, professionally and personally.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Nathan helped organize the SW&L Charitable Fund, which supports charitable causes throughout the region. Nathan and Carolene also give financial support to local charities and are active members in their church. Nathan currently serves on the NDEMS Foundation Board of Directors, allowing him to continue the legacy his father Dale Severson began.
