BACKGROUND
Hayley joined the SW&L Team in 2021 and has since worked as a Paralegal in the Real Estate and Trusts/Estates/Probate departments.
Hayley grew up on a family farm in rural Edinburg, ND, and now lives in Crookston, MN. She works on a hybrid schedule with Attorney Kathryn Nekola and Attorney Jesse Maier in matters relating to wills, trusts, probates, and real estate. Her passion includes making a positive impact on clients’ lives and helping attorneys with her knowledge of substantive and procedural law.
PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Hayley worked as a student clerk at the main headquarters of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of North Dakota under Assistant United States Attorneys, Paralegals, and Administrative Staff from 2019-2021. She completed a paralegal internship at Morley Law Firm, Ltd. in Grand Forks, North Dakota during the summer of 2021.
In the fall of 2022, Hayley earned her Certified Paralegal (CP) certification, which included passing a two-part exam. This certification is known as a professional standard for paralegals and acknowledged by the American Bar Association as a mark of excellence. It enables her to serve as an industry leader capable of contributing to SW&L Attorneys everyday.
EDUCATION HISTORY
Hayley graduated summa cum laude from the paralegal program at Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2021, emphasizing in transactions and litigation. She has a previous bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences education from NDSU and decided to continue learning to diversify her career options.
PERSONAL BACKGROUND
Hayley loves to read, play violin, cook, travel, and spend time with family & friends. She also enjoys working out at Orangetheory Fitness and is continually trying to improve her golf game in the summertime.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Hayley is a junior youth group leader and sings in the choir at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She is also a member of the Red River Valley Paralegal Association.
